It’s crazy to think that just over a year ago, no one really knew who Justin Bieber was.
Of course in the past 12 months, the 16-year-old teen pop icon from small-town Ontario has taken off like a rocket with singles ‘One Time’ and ‘Baby,’ and in doing so has spread his Bieber Fever around the world. So much so that his fans have trampled concert goers—and even crushed his mom—while under his spell at concerts in Australia, New Zealand and the United States. Of course along with all the fan-demonium has come a fair bit of parody and criticism. Most notably was a campaign by the famous Internet pranksters 4chan, who hoped to have him sent to North Korea on his world tour.
The Canadian pop singer appeared at the Juno awards in the spring feeding teen girl frenzy in Newfoundland, a few weeks after his first full studio album, My World 2.0, dropped. While he left St. John’s empty-handed, he redeemed himself later in the year picking up trophy after trophy, including sweeping the American Music Awards with four pieces of hardware. He is nominated for two Grammys; the winners will be announced in February
