April 22, 2011 Prime Minister Stephen Harper today extended the following Easter wishes to Conservative Party members: “I am pleased to extend very best wishes to you and yours as Easter Sunday, the holiest day on the Christian calendar, approaches. “Easter is a time of profound importance to Christians in Canada and around the world. It honours and recognizes Jesus Christ’s Resurrection from the dead, giving Christians hope for eternal life and the constant renewal of the world. “Easter is a time of reflection, rebirth and renewal. It is a season of tremendous hope that represents the triumph of life over death and the redeeming power of love over evil. “During this season of hope and joy, I reflect on our great fortune in living in a country that embraces diversity and finds strength, stability and unity in the coming together of the many cultures and faiths of the world. Our thoughts are with Christians in areas of the world where there are persecution and danger for observing their faith. “For all Canadians, Easter provides an opportunity to reflect on the tremendous contributions that Christians have made to this country’s heritage. “I extend with Laureen our warmest and most sincere wishes for a happy Easter season to everyone celebrating in the coming days.” Conservative Press Office: 1-877-262-7026 This document is also available at
